Common Questions
What services do you offer?
I offer gentle, hands-on newborn care education and breastfeeding support. Whether you’d prefer a comforting visit at home or support from the comfort of your couch, we’ll meet you where you are. We proudly serve families in Marin and Sonoma counties. If you live just outside these areas, but don’t worry I’ll do my best to accommodate you (a small travel fee may apply). Services are educational and non-medical in nature and do not replace medical advice or diagnosis.
How do I schedule a visit with Nurcher?
You can reach out by emailing Hello@NurcherBaby.com. Alternatively, you can use the "Contact Us" page or the booking form available at the bottom of each page on our website. I’ll find a time that works and get you the care you deserve and look forward to working with you!
Can I book a visit before my baby is born?
Absolutely. In fact, many families love starting care during pregnancy. I offer prenatal education services to help you feel empowered and ready for both feeding and newborn care from the very beginning. I can help you prepare for breastfeeding and newborn care so you feel more confident from day one.
What happens during a lactation support visit?
I’ll talk about your feeding goals, observe a feeding, check latch and positioning, and offer hands-on support. I can also do a weighted feed to help estimate how much your baby is transferring during a session. I like to schedule visits when your baby will be hungry, ideally at least 2 hours after the previous feed, for the most helpful support. I hope you’ll leave our visit feeling encouraged with tips and a plan tailored to you and your baby.
Do you support parents who pump or use formula?
Yes! I support all feeding choices—breast, bottle, formula, or a mix. I can help create a personalized pumping plan and teach paced bottle feeding techniques to support your goals. My goal is to help you feel informed, confident, and supported no matter how you feed your baby—breast, bottle, formula, or a mix.
What kind of breastfeeding challenges can you help with?
I help with latch pain, low supply, pumping, tongue tie questions, slow weight gain, and more. I also support families with establishing breastfeeding, managing a difficult latch, evaluating for appropriate flange size if you're pumping, and understanding how to supplement whether at the breast with a supplemental nursing system, finger feeding, or other gentle methods. I can also help explore ways to bring baby back to the breast if needed. If it’s making feeding feel hard, I’m here to help.
What does a newborn care visit include?
I cover bathing, swaddling, diapering, soothing techniques, newborn sleep basics, and more. Visits include hands-on assistance with your baby or simply answering your questions, whatever feels most helpful and comfortable for you. You’ll have space to ask all your questions, big or small.
Do you accept insurance?
I’m now partnered with The Lactation Network (TLN), which means my clients can easily check their insurance coverage for lactation services. You can register and verify your eligibility for insurance-covered care directly through my link here: https://go.lactationnetwork.com/NurcherLLC or by scanning the QR code below.
For families whose insurance qualifies through TLN, visits may be fully covered with no out-of-pocket cost!
If your plan is not covered through TLN, I do not bill insurance directly, but many lactation services are still reimbursable. Under the Affordable Care Act, breastfeeding support—including lactation consultations and breast pumps—is considered a preventive benefit and must be covered by most private and Medicaid expansion plans here in California.
I encourage you to reach out to your insurance company to ask if they reimburse for out-of-network lactation services, whether a referral or pre-authorization is needed, and what documentation they require to process your claim. If you're hoping to get reimbursed for lactation services, please take a moment to review this reimbursement guide.
What if I need help but can’t afford the full price?
I believe support should be available to all families. If finances are a concern, please reach out! I’m happy to offer flexible pricing whenever I can.
Are your services inclusive?
Yes. All families are welcome here regardless of feeding method, background, gender identity, or parenting path. You belong here.
